About me
Currently, working as the Fund Development Manager at CMHA Manitoba and Winnipeg. Stephen is excited for this new venture to strengthen relations with current donors and create pathways to walk with future donors. Stephen firmly believes, "giving is not just about making a donation, it is about making a difference in investing in social justice for all human beings."
Stephen has worked in the mental health care industry, post-secondary and the non-profit sector in both Canada and The United States of America. A dynamic speaker; captivating personality, engaging teacher, person- centred therapist and innovative leader - Stephen produces and drives positive change.
Through story, Stephen is authentic and vulnerable, sharing his lived and living experience/expertise with mental illness and how he has used connection as a vehicle of personal and professional transformation. Stephen’s education, experiences and enthusiasm for life allow him to be a contagious cheerleader, coach and champion of mental health and well-being. Stephen doesn’t shy away from the tough issues and comes to the conversation with a posture of curiosity and candidness. What remains clear and unwavering is Stephen’s commitment to integrity, loyalty and purposeful connection as he values all people over policy.
As an unashamed introvert- Stephen can be found in the far corner of a Starbucks, enjoying his Trenta Iced-Coffee (black) light ice with a Grande cup of ice for his double espresso to enjoy his protein shake. The trifecta of beverages means Stephen is ready to work and bring results.
Today, Stephen's focus is on creating space for anyone to have a meaningful engagement in investing in the lives of our provinces' most vulnerable. Success is achieved when we all participate in being a "pebble in the pond." This ripple effect changes not only the landscape but the conversation around our collective actions that "no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."
Stephen’s faith and spiritual identity inform his values and build into the resilience of hopefulness to experience a better world where everyone is seen equal and hate is defeated by love.
Married to his partner - he resides in Winnipeg though Toronto has become a home away from home.
Always ready for a challenge Stephen embraces conflict with compassion; owns mistakes, making them opportunities and lives out the mantra - the best is yet to come.
