Esset Samatova is a psychologist and well-being specialist with over 10 years of experience in trauma-informed care, psychosocial support, and stress management, particularly within humanitarian and high-risk contexts. She has worked extensively with human rights defenders (HRDs) from Europe, the USA, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, providing both personal consultations and group sessions.
Esset holds degrees in Psychology and Philology and has completed advanced training in areas such as EMDR, psychosocial counseling for trauma survivors, and leadership psychology. She has led key projects like the Burnout Correction Project and Support for Activists in Crisis, providing critical emotional and logistical support in challenging environments.
Esset has facilitated well-being sessions across Africa, Europe, and Asia, and has been instrumental in developing guidelines for psychosocial support tailored to the needs of activists in high-risk situations. Her work has been recognized by several awards, including the Sean MacBride Peace Prize.
