About me
I'm a Portuguese science journalist. I have worked for 10 years in a national digital news media. I was part of the founding team and had the chance to see the project grow and develop my skills as a journalist along with it. My work mainly focused on science and health topics, and I occasionally covered environmental issues. Having faced mental health issues due to my work environment, I now plan to dedicate to slow journalism, local journalism, and solutions journalism - still with an eye on science journalism.
I have developed training courses on science journalism for journalists, science communicators and scientists. I address issues such as the need for specialized journalism in science, the need to increase media literacy and trust in media, and the development of critical thinking and tools against misinformation by the audience.
I graduated as a biologist in 2004, and started working s an environmental educator in 2006. It was during the master's degree in Science Communication that I discovered science journalism and engaged in written communication. After an internship at Público newspaper, in the only science editorship in the country, I started working at Observador in 2014. Occasionally freelancing internationally.
